Flora Europaea the Linnean original specimen biennal -perennial, T-H, 2n=16, 54 diploid up to heptaploid? xeric to mesic, from the forest-steppe up to the boreal belt continental Eurasian Festuco-Brometea, Molinio-Arrhenatheretea R34, R37, R38 habitats     The most common Scabiosa species in our flora and one of the most common grassland species, especially in the mesic ones.
